Job Summary

The GP practice in South Oxhey is seeking a part-time practice nurse to support our healthcare team for approximately 10-15 hours per week, with afternoons preferred on Wednesdays and Fridays. Flexible working arrangements are considered.

The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a medical practice setting, aiming to positively impact patient well-being and contribute to delivering quality healthcare services.

Main Duties of the Job

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
• Have previous practice nursing experience, including:
• Cervical Cytology Screening (taking smears and overseeing the cytology screening service)
• Child immunisations and overseeing immunisation uptake
• Wound monitoring and dressings
• ECG, Phlebotomy, and Injections

Job Responsibilities

• Support the practice in achieving quality indicators and targets of the GMS contract and relevant frameworks.
• Undertake opportunistic screening as needed.
• Perform venepuncture, ECG, wound care, and dressings.
• Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness.
• Administer injections to adults and children, ensuring safety and proper disposal.
• Advise on lifestyle changes, support behavioral modifications, and refer patients appropriately.
• Follow infection control protocols and handle laboratory specimens safely.
• Manage emergencies, including burns, hemorrhage, and hypoglycemia, and participate in annual training in resuscitation techniques.
• Maintain professional registration and comply with legal and statutory requirements.
• Recognize signs of abuse and other vulnerabilities, and follow referral procedures.
• Engage in continuous professional development and participate in annual appraisals.
• Manage time, workload, and resources effectively.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:

• Registered nurse with the General Nursing Council (GNC).
• Cervical Cytology Accreditation.
