Job summary

Oldham Music Service is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Music Teacher to deliver our growing EYFS programme across Oldham’s schools, nurseries, and community settings. The role focuses on using music to support communication, language and wellbeing in young children.

You do not need a music degree to apply; strong musical skills and a passion for working with families are essential. The post may involve working at the Oldham Music Centre and various settings.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of working with children aged 0-5.
• Strong musical skills and confident singing.
• Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• A music degree is not required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive music sessions for 0–5s in schools, nurseries and community settings.
• Lead Oldham Music Service's Musical Beginnings sessions.
• Deliver Tune-in to Talking in schools and early years settings.
• Plan and deliver high-quality sessions aligned with the EYFS framework.
• Use singing, movement, musical play, storytelling and creative exploration to support learning.
• Create welcoming and inclusive musical experiences for all children and families.
• Build positive relationships with schools, nurseries, families and partner organisations.
• Monitor, record and report on pupils’ progress in a concise style.
• Attend staff meetings, training and development activities.
