Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD in Preston is seeking a Payroll Assistant for a part-time role, three days per week with potential to increase to five. You will support weekly to monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensure accurate data processing, and handle RTI submissions and pension tasks with confidentiality.

The position offers development opportunities, holiday entitlement and training support, with a view to expanding hours if you can assist with accounts prep and VAT returns.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll processing for multiple clients.
• Desirable: accounts prep and VAT experience.
• Familiar with PayCircle or similar payroll software.
• Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Assist with weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.
• Process payroll data accurately including hours, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, deductions, starters and leavers.
• Support RTI submissions, pension administration and other payroll-related filings.
• Prepare draft payslips, reports and payroll summaries for review.
• Respond to client and employee payroll queries professionally and promptly.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
• Assist with year-end processes, including P60s.
• Liaise with HMRC, pension providers and clients where required.
• Provide general administrative support to the payroll team.
• Where experience allows, assist with accounts preparation and VAT returns.
