The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth is seeking a Part Time Ambulance Driver to join the St John’s Hospice Palliative Ambulance crew. The role focuses on safe patient transport and high-quality care, supporting transfers between Home, Hospice, and Hospital settings.

You will work within a small team, ensuring safety standards, effective planning, and clear communication with the Hospice clinical team. DBS Enhanced is required, hours are 30 per week, and closing date is 19/10/2026.

Qualifications

• Clean Driving Licence Class 1 or higher is required.
• Basic First Aid is desirable.
• Experience in patient or vulnerable adult transport is desirable.
• Good communication and liaison skills for bookings and planning.
• Ability to use transport and communication aids (sat nav, hands-free phones).
• Understanding of hospice patient needs and transport documentation.

Responsabilités

• Take daily responsibility for ambulance crew transport and patient transfers (Home↔Hospice, Hospital↔Hospice).
• Respond promptly to planned and unplanned transport requests in liaison with unit managers.
• Inform patients or carers of pick-up times and delays; conduct Covid screening where required.
• Maintain clear communication with the Hospice team during transit and on-site.
• Assist with plans for deteriorating patient conditions and ensure necessary documentation is in place.
• Log transfers and notable events and keep equipment stocked and maintained.
