Job summary

Disability North in Sutton, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, seeks an experienced PA/Carer to support a young boy with profound autism and learning disabilities during school holidays, weekends and occasionally after school. You will work one-to-one in the family home, have an enhanced DBS, your own transport and be adaptable to his communication style based on hand gestures and eye contact.

You will help with daily care, safety, meals, dressing and play, while engaging in one-to-one activities

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check required.
• Own transport essential due to family’s home location.
• Experience in caring for children with profound autism and/or learning disabilities preferred.
• Willing to work in family home and adapt to child’s communication style (hand gestures/eye contact).

Responsibilities

• Keep him safe at home and accompany local walks or activities.
• Help with snack and drink choices and supervise safe play in garden/house.
• Assist with daily care needs: dressing, personal care, eating, and teaching day-to-day choices.
