Job summary

Newmedica Bradford is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our site on 24 hours across 5 days per week, with weekends required as we expand to 7 days. You’ll greet patients, guide them through diagnostic tests and support clinicians during the surgical pathway, ensuring patient comfort and clear explanations.

We welcome applicants with healthcare exposure and an eagerness to learn; strong English, data handling, and teamwork are essential in a busy ophthalmic clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
• Knowledge of eye physiology or interest to build knowledge in this area.
• Competent user of Office 365 programmes and comfortable with new systems.

Responsibilities

• Take patients through diagnostic tests.
• Support senior clinicians with surgical pathways.
• Explain tests and procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Support patients undergoing cataract and oculoplastic procedures.
• Contribute to a friendly, empathetic clinic environment.
