Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Band 5 Neonatal Staff Nurse for a part-time role (22.5 hours/week) on a level 2 neonatal unit. The post supports babies from 27 weeks gestation, with 18 beds including ITU/HDU and transitional care, and a seven-day-outreach service.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register.
• Evidence of continuing education for Band 5 nurses in speciality NMC recognised mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post
• GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
• Teaching and Assessing Qualification

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and children.
• Participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff.
• Educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified, including information on adopting a healthier lifestyle.
• Complete patient documentation correctly.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with NMC requirements and maintain a professional portfolio with reflective practice evidence.
• Assist in the training and development of student nurses and nursery nurses and complete assessors training as required.
• Contribute to research and development programmes within the ward / department.
• Contribute to setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.
• Participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
• Maintain a safe clean ward environment and complete general risk assessments within 24 hours of admission.
