Position: Daily Nanny
Location: Chelsea, London
Salary: £28 - £32 per hour, gross
Hours: 10 - 30 hrs weekly, Monday - Thursday (family is flexible)
Start: ASAP
A family based in Chelsea, London, are looking for a Norland nanny to join their family and care for their 16 month old daughter. Having had a wonderful experience with their past temporary, ad hoc nannies, the family are keen to find someone who can become a consistent and trusted presence in their daughter's life, supporting her development through play to help her build a strong foundation before she begins nursery.
Mum is currently at home and looking for a nanny to come in regularly and provide some assistance during the week. The family are flexible on hours, ideally looking for 10-30 hours per week across three or four days, excluding Fridays, which they keep as family time. The usual day would be around 4-6 hours, with flexibility around morning or afternoon slots depending on the nanny's preference. Their daughter generally naps in the middle of the day, so the family are open to shaping the hours around her routine.
Over time, Mum plans to return to work, and the family would love the nanny to be someone who can grow with them and be a part of the family.
The family are particularly interested in someone with an early childhood education background who can bring thought and structure to their daughter's play. They would love a nanny who understands what a child of this age should be exposed to, can suggest appropriate toys and activities, and can help plan around her development. The ideal candidate will be confident in creating engaging activities while following the child's interests, offering guidance, and allowing her the space to explore independently.
The nanny should be comfortable with shared care and the family are looking for the nanny to be observant and provide proactive feedback about the child's development.
Their daughter is extremely active and curious. She loves to explore, so the nanny will need to be able to keep up with her. She is a bright little girl and the family are looking for someone confident, observant and assertive. A nanny who can offer clear guidance and set boundaries while remaining calm and connected will be well suited to the role. They are looking for someone who can support their daughter's emotional development with patience, understanding and consistency.
The family have a very clear approach to technology and would like a nanny who is fully comfortable with no screen time. The family does not use electronic devices in front of the child. The role is very much about meaningful interaction, play, and being actively involved in her world. The family do not wish photos or videos be taken of their daughter without the parents' consent.
The family would love someone who is happy to take her out to local playgroups and activities. They have a membership at Purple Dragon, and she currently attends swimming lessons, with gymnastics, Monkey Music (or equivalent), and martial arts likely to be added soon.
There is a communal garden directly attached to the flat, and the family enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the countryside, so a nanny who appreciates nature and outdoor adventures would be a lovely fit.
The top end of the hours offered would consist of additional responsibilities alongside the primary childcare, such as weekend babysitting if the nanny is open to it, to allow the parents some time together, as well as meal preparation for the family. They would be happy to consider a nanny who is confident in the kitchen, particularly someone with culinary training or a strong understanding of nutrition, who would enjoy preparing wholesome meals for the whole family.
The family spend time at their home in the States and abroad during the summer, but any travel with the family would be entirely optional and not an expectation of the role.
A driver is needed, particularly for getting out and about with their daughter.
The family have a regular housekeeper. The nanny would be responsible for the child's room, bath, and play area. Duties may include laundry, organising / tidying / cleaning room to ensure a clutter free, relaxing, and welcoming environment, ensuring supplies are stocked, and area post meal is cleaned.
The family have two very friendly cockapoos, aged five and sixteen, who are generally around the home. A dog walker comes regularly, and the nanny should be comfortable with dogs and mindful of animal safety, particularly around a young child learning how to interact with them respectfully.
