Job summary

Surrey Choices is seeking a Part-Time Community Transport Driver in Woking to provide door-to-door transport for adults with learning disabilities and autism. You will operate a minibus, ensure safe pickup and drop-off, and support residents to access activities across Surrey.

You will join a supportive team, receive full training, and have opportunities for progression. A valid UK driving licence, flexibility for shifts, and a compassionate approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) held for at least two years
• 21+ for insurance purposes
• Ability to assist passengers getting in and out of the vehicle
• Willing to be trained to drive a minibus and to learn wheelchair safety and restraint
• Ability to diffuse difficult situations calmly and to write brief incident notes
• Clear verbal and written communication and ability to keep simple records

Responsibilities

• Provide door-to-door transport for people we support to and from services
• Drive a company minibus, ensuring safety and adherence to policies
• Build positive relationships with passengers, carers and staff
• Assist passengers on and off the vehicle as needed and ensure safety
• Perform regular vehicle checks and report concerns
• Operate vehicle equipment (steps, belts, clamps, tail lifts)
• Report safeguarding concerns to supervisor
• Keep the minibus clean and tidy
