Job summary

Bath Spa University invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Photography (Fixed Term) to cover maternity leave. The post is 0.5fte (18.5 hours per week) on a Fixed Term contract until 29 October 2027.

You will deliver high-quality teaching across the BA (Hons) Photography, design innovative materials, assess learners, support the student experience, and contribute to research, professional networks, and quality assurance within the School.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Photography required.
• Recent, successful university-level teaching experience in photography or a related discipline.
• A track record in research and/or scholarly activity linked to teaching.
• PhD or near completion preferred.

Compensation: Grade 8S - £22,373 per annum, pro rata £44,746

Description

We are currently seeking a talented, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Lecturer in Photography with exceptional organisational skills and a commitment to innovative teaching and learning to help deliver our BA (Hons) Photography degree.
(This is a part-time 0.5, 18.5 hours per week, fixed term contract covering maternity leave until 29/10/2027)

About the Role

Within the role, you will contribute to the delivery and development of high-quality teaching and learning across the subject area, designing engaging teaching materials, assessing learners and supporting an excellent student experience.
You will contribute to pedagogical innovation, research and scholarly activity, while developing strong links with professional networks, industry and relevant subject communities.
The role also involves supporting quality assurance and regulatory requirements, alongside contributing to recruitment, promotional activities and the wider administrative and professional responsibilities of the School.

About You

• Postgraduate degree in Photography
• Recent, successful experience of innovative university level teaching in a relevant discipline
• A track record in research and/or research experience, particularly where this has evolved from or enriched your teaching and/or enhanced the student experience.
• PhD or near completion
• Module planning experience
• Experience of employment and/or working in or with the media/creative industries.
