Job summary

Barnardo's is seeking a part-time, term-time Learning Support Assistant for our centre in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, to support staff and students under supervision. The role focuses on assisting with teaching, welfare, and administration, while fostering an inclusive environment in line with our values.

The successful candidate will have school-based experience, empathy for young people aged 16+ with SEND, and a willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2 with solid literacy and numeracy skills.

Qualifications

Some previous experience of working in a school setting.
Experience supporting young people aged 16+ with Special Educational Needs.
Willing to work towards NVQ level 2; good literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning in the Centre.
Provide welfare and pastoral support for pupils.
Work as a team to deliver qualifications.
Organise equipment, resources and assist with administration tasks.
Assist with behaviour management of pupils.
Get to know students and their individual needs (EHCPs).
Uphold Barnardo's values.
