About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff and SEN professionals to provide direct support to pupils with a range of special educational needs. Your role will be crucial in helping students access the curriculum, manage their emotions and behaviours, and achieve their full potential in a safe, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with diverse SEND needs in both one-to-one and small group settings.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Foster a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage pupil independence, resilience, and engagement with learning activities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teaching team.
  • Promote the safeguarding and well-being of all pupils under your care.

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience supporting children or young people with SEND is highly desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to learning support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and an understanding of emotional and behavioural needs.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child support is advantageous.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
