Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Part Time Learning Support Assistant for Adult Community Learning in Harlow, with one day per week at Ongar Zinc Arts. This annualised hours role offers 16.30 hours per week / 849.89 hours per year and a pro rata salary up to £25,959 per annum.

The post is based mainly in Harlow with some travel to Ongar. You will support learners, assist tutors, monitor progress, and contribute to quality assurance schemes.

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) in English and Maths.
• Possesses Level 2 qualification in supporting learning or willing to undertake within first year.
• Ability to develop skills and knowledge within the role.
• Experience in a supportive role with adults.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment and good communication with adults.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to learner assessment and monitor progress under tutor direction.
• Support tutors to motivate participants and use appropriate materials.
• Maintain records of learning and attendance and support QA schemes.
• Assist with delivery of academic and vocational sessions.
• Support learners with challenging behaviour and with SEN/ disabilities.
• Provide pastoral support to adult learners across curriculum areas.
