Job summary

Wigton Youth Station in Wigton, Cumbria, is seeking a Lead Youth Worker to oversee the day‑to‑day leadership and development of our youth work programme. The role involves crafting an engaging, inclusive schedule, delivering sessions, and guiding staff and volunteers.

You will work alongside the Centre Manager, plan activities, monitor participation and ensure safeguarding and records are maintained. Regular evening work and some weekend trips are required.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of working with young people.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging activities and programmes for young people.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the youth work programme and sessions.
• Support and provide day‑to‑day direction to Youth Workers, volunteers and peer mentors.
• Develop new ideas based on young people’s needs and feedback.
• Plan trips, projects, events and other activities.
• Ensure safeguarding, recording and evaluation are completed.
