Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a General Assistant to support meal provision for children. You will help prepare and serve meals, set up dining areas, and assist with washing up and some basic food preparation.

The role runs 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday 11:30am–1:30pm, and is a fixed-term contract until July 2027. DBS check required; cost borne by new employee, with deduction from salary. Further details via Citywide Admin Team.

Qualifications

• DBS check required; applicant will meet the cost (£49.50) deducted from first four months’ salary.
• Passport/ID proving right to work in the UK and proof of address required if invited to interview.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cook Supervisor in providing healthy, nutritious meals for Salford's children.
• Set up dining rooms, wash up, serve food and perform basic food preparation.
