Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking an Immunisation Nurse to deliver school and community immunisation programmes. You will promote the mental, physical and emotional health of children and families, working across partnerships including GP practices and local education authorities.

The 18-hour-per-week, term-time-only role is based at Walton Health Centre. It offers BAND 5 Agenda for Change pay and NHS pension benefits, with opportunities for professional development and supervision of junior staff.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with experience working with children and young people.
• Knowledge of NHS issues, clinical governance, and risk management.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to assess needs, work independently, and manage time.
• It literacy and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivery of school and community immunisation programmes following local policies, PGDs, and SOPs.
• Administer vaccines safely with correct cold chain storage and documentation.
• Prepare, transport, and maintain immunisation equipment and vaccine stocks for sessions.
• Act as Lead Nurse when fully competent, supervising bank nurses and students.
• Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and participate in training and audits.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support families, address anxieties or complaints, and advocate when appropriate.
• Participate in policy development and service improvement of immunisation programmes.
• Organise workload independently with accurate record-keeping and reporting.
• Ensure safeguarding actions are taken and adhere to NMC Code.
