Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Churchill, located in south London, is a 56 bed inpatient mental health hospital for men. We are currently recruiting for a part time Maintenance Assistant to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance duties on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order.

You’ll be working part-time 24 hours a week in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• No specific qualifications required, but a general maintenance background is helpful (carpentry, plumbing, painting, decorating, etc.).
• Good knowledge of health and safety and safe working practices.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep building, plant, and services in working order.
• Carry out basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work.
• Ensure all equipment used is clean and well maintained.
• Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits and emergency lights.
• Test and record portable appliances as specified in group procedures.
• Escort and manage contractors.
