Job summary

Cygnet Group in Bury is seeking an HCPC registered Psychologist to join the Secure Forensic service on a part-time basis (24 hours per week). You will work within an established MDT on a secure ward with adult males detained under the Mental Health Act, delivering specialist assessments and therapy.

You will formulate cases, provide risk assessments, lead individual and group interventions, and supervise Assistant Psychologists while supporting staff development.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered or near qualification with experience in clinical/forensic/mental health settings.
• Experience delivering therapies such as Schema, Cognitive Analytic Therapy and/or DBT.
• Strong risk assessment skills and ability to use structured professional judgement tools.
• Trauma‑informed approach and ability to work within an MDT on a secure ward.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy for adult males detained under the Mental Health Act on a secure ward.
• Formulate cases using evidence-based psychological models to guide treatment and risk management.
• Implement individual and group interventions and monitor treatment outcomes.
• Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
• Assess and manage risk using structured professional judgement tools.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Support staff development through training, reflective practice and supervision of Assistant Psychologists.
