Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties.
  • Help pupils develop communication, confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Assist pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated activities and personalised strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help pupils manage emotions and transitions.
  • Use visual supports, structured routines and communication strategies where appropriate.
  • Support pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and wider school activities.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals.
  • Provide a calm, consistent and encouraging presence for pupils who may require additional support.

Are you a graduate looking for flexible, rewarding work supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Pertemps Education Network is recruiting Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and specialist schools in South London.

This is an ideal opportunity for Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Speech and Language, Sociology or related graduates who want to gain valuable experience working with children with additional needs while maintaining flexibility around their studies, career plans or other commitments.

We have opportunities ranging from part-time and day-to-day work through to longer-term placements, allowing you to choose the type of work that best suits you.

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you could be supporting pupils across mainstream primary schools, specialist provisions and SEN settings.

Depending on the school and individual pupil's needs, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties.
  • Helping pupils develop communication, confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Supporting children to access the curriculum through differentiated activities and personalised strategies.
