Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College is seeking a part-time Fire – EMS Lab Instructor Advanced Life Support Paramedic to teach and guide ALS and Paramedic students through psychomotor skills, simulations, and evaluations across the program.

The role includes maintaining equipment, coordinating lab resources, mentoring new instructors, and ensuring compliance with state standards for instructor-to-student ratios, while supporting a safe, hands-on learning environment at multiple campus locations.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted Paramedic certification (National Registry and/or Virginia).
• Knowledge of fire and emergency medical services standards.
• Experience with competency-based education methods.
• Ability to lead lab sessions and work at multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Instruct ALS and Paramedic students in psychomotor skills and simulations.
• Provide tutoring, remediation, and feedback to students and faculty.
• Maintain, inventory, and replace lab equipment and spaces.
• Serve as lead lab instructor/mentor for new instructors.
