Trial Balance is partnering with a growing specialist services business in Brixham to recruit an Assistant/Financial Accountant on a permanent, part-time basis (approx. 25 hours/week).

You will join a small, experienced finance team and support statutory reporting, management accounting, VAT, andCashflow planning. The role requires at least two years of relevant experience, with AAT or equivalent qualifications welcomed.

Qualifications

• At least two years of recent experience in a similar role.
• AAT/professional qualification or vocational experience considered.
• Strong IT ability and excellent MS Excel skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing statutory accounts and FP&A.
• Assist in production of management accounts.
• Ensure statutory reporting deadlines are met.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Produce cash flow statements and forecasts.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Run balance sheet reconciliations.
• Take the lead on VAT reporting.
• Post accruals and prepayments.
• Support the wider finance team as required.

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have exclusively partnered with a new client, an interesting and highly regarded specialist services business based in the beautiful town of Brixham. The company has tasked us with a sourcing an experienced Assistant Accountant, a newly created opportunity, to join them on a permanent, part time contract - approximately 25 hours per week to be arranged to suit the successful candidate. There may be some scope for hybrid working following an initial settling-in period.

Working as part of a small but highly experienced and very friendly finance team, the successful candidate will principally focus on ensuring highly quality financial reporting and the upkeep of financial records, but with a somewhat broader remit than pure statutory processes. This will be a broad and interesting opportunity with a varied range of responsibilities to include:

• Work closely with the Finance Manager (and occasionally the CFO), to support in all aspects of preparing statutory accounts and general FP&A
• Assist the Finance Manager with the production of management accounts
• Ensure that statutory reporting deadlines are met
• Bank reconciliations
• Produce cash flow statements and general forecasts
• Maintenance of the fixed asset register
• Balance sheet reconciliation
• Assume a lead role in VAT reporting
• Posting accruals and prepayments
• Assist the wider finance team as and when required

For this role we seek a motivated and career driven Assistant/Financial Accountant with at least two years of recently gained experience in a similar capacity, or moving from practice to industry. Candidates may be part/fully AAT/professionally qualified or suitably qualified through vocational experience. The company is keen to implement digital system improvements so good IT aptitude and excellent MS Excel skills essential. This is a highly visible role that works with an energetic team and liaises with colleagues throughout the business so excellent communication/interpersonal skills required.
