Job summary

Sheridan Maine Midlands is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to manage day-to-day finances for a small group of SME businesses. The role is 20-25 hours per week, spread across four days, and 100% office-based in Solihull.

The position is a hands-on finance role with responsibility for sales and purchase ledgers, banking, and cash management, plus month-end and management accounts. Office-based, UK work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience across transactional finance and month end.
• SME/owner-managed environment experience is useful.
• Comfortable handling sales/purchase ledgers and banking while pulling accounts together at month end.

Responsibilities

• Manage the sales ledger from start to finish.
• Manage the purchase ledger including supplier invoices and payments.
• Credit control and monitoring outstanding balances.
• Managing cash and day-to-day banking across the businesses.
• Completing bank reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records across several SME companies.
• Taking responsibility for month-end processes.
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
• Putting together monthly management accounts.
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and external accountants.
• Ensuring the finances across the businesses are accurate, organised and up to date.
