Job summary

Ipswich High School is seeking an experienced Finance Manager for maternity cover, working 22–29 hours per week across 52 weeks per year. The role involves overseeing the finance function, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and timely reporting, in a supportive school environment.

You will collaborate with the Head of Finance, maintain budgets, prepare management accounts, and contribute to process improvements within a friendly 500+ pupil community.

Qualifications

• Experience in a broad finance role with a sound understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.
• Confident in producing management accounts, undertaking reconciliations and monitoring budgets.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive and solutions-focused, with the confidence to identify opportunities to improve processes and practices.
• Effective communicator, able to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
• Comfortable working independently whilst contributing to a small finance team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a broad range of financial activities within the school's finance function.
• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and timely financial reporting.
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to support day-to-day operations.
• Assist with month-end processes and financial analysis.
