Job summary

Brunel Academies Trust is seeking an experienced, professionally qualified accountant to join the central Finance Team as Technical Finance Lead. You will support the Head of Finance and deputise on technical accounting and reporting matters, guiding Finance Managers and ensuring robust financial processes.

Your role focuses on month-end control, VAT, treasury support, asset registers and year-end audits, with 22.2 hours per week and comprehensive training provided.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with membership of a recognised body.
• Experience preparing VAT returns and familiarity with UK VAT rules.
• Experience in financial controls, year-end adjustments and audits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end processes, including reconciliations and balance sheet controls.
• Review quarterly VAT returns and arrange necessary corrections.
• Support treasury management, cash flow forecasting and banking liaison.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and lease schedules; ensure statutory accounts accuracy.
• Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external auditors.
• Lead and develop Finance Managers and deputise on technical matters.
