Job summary

Carmountside Primary Academy in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support our curious learners and work closely with teachers to deliver engaging activities.

You will provide individualised support, help plan and deliver lessons, assist with progress records and keep children safe in a nurturing, inclusive EYFS environment.

This temporary part-time role (2 days per week) runs until 31 August 2027, with interviews on 2 October 2026.

Qualifications

• A recognised Level 2 qualification (or higher) in childcare.
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
• A genuine passion for education and helping children succeed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Basic knowledge of the Early Years curriculum.
• Desirable Paediatric First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• To have fun! To plan for children’s individual needs and record progress and development to ensure that children achieve their full potential.
• Assist in planning and delivering lessons that cater to the diverse needs of pupils.
• Support pupils with their learning activities, ensuring they understand and complete tasks.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Prepare and organise teaching materials and resources.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor and assess pupil progress.
• Foster a safe and inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued.
