Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking an Early Years Assistant for Frogston Primary School's nursery on a temporary basis. The role supports learning for 3–5 year olds and Terrific 2s, with 18 hours per week across 9am-2pm on Mon/Tue/Thu and 9am-12pm on Fri until June 2027.

No formal qualifications are required, but a good basic education is expected. PVG checks and SSSC registration are required within set timelines.

Qualifications

• No formal qualification is required, but a good basic education is expected.
• Must apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered a post.
• SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification to be gained within 3 years of taking up the role.
• Post is regulated work with children under PVG Scheme; PVG Scheme check may be required.
• Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required if spent 3+ months outside the UK in the last 5 years.

• Support learning activities in the nursery for 3–5 year olds and Terrific 2s.
• Assist with daily routines, play and group activities to promote development.
• Work as part of the team to ensure a high standard of learning and care.
