Job summary

Coventry City Council's Adult Education Service is hiring a part-time Dressmaking and Machine Sewing Tutor to inspire learners and develop practical and employability skills in dressmaking, garment construction and textile crafts.

Delivery will span daytime, evenings and weekends across Coventry venues; approx 6 hours per week, with about 4 in-class teaching and remaining time for planning, assessments and course promotion.

Qualifications

• Must have a relevant teaching qualification at level 3 or above.
• Appropriate subject-specific qualifications in textiles or crafts are preferred.
• Experience delivering adult learning and accredited textiles qualifications is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality machine sewing, dressmaking and textile courses for adult learners.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging sessions for learners with varying experience.
• Teach garment construction, pattern interpretation, fabric selection, alterations and finishing techniques.
• Assess learner progress and provide feedback toward individual learning targets.
• Deliver accredited textile qualifications and complete assessment, moderation and QA processes.
• Create an inclusive, safe learning environment across multiple community venues and times.
• Support learners to progress to further learning, volunteering or employment.
