Job summary

Akari Care Limited is seeking a part-time Kitchen / Catering Assistant for 16 hours per week across two days, including alternate weekends, at our care home in Gateshead. Join a team dedicated to respectful, personalised elder care and strive to ensure mealtimes are smooth, enjoyable, and inclusive for all residents.

You will work with the Cook and catering team to manage kitchen processes, menus, plating, and service while recognising diverse cultural needs and delivering high-quality support.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within similar environment.
• Kitchen and food preparation experience.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice.
• Work well under pressure without negative impact to those around you.
• Warm, approachable, and engaging persona.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily kitchen operations and collaborate with the Cook and catering team.
• Help plan and create menus and plate meals.
• Prepare and arrange trollies; ensure smooth mealtime service for residents.
• Provide personalised service, mindful of residents' religious and cultural needs.
• Support residents with care and attention during meal times.
