Job summary

The LodgeCare Home in Exeter is seeking a compassionate Housekeeping Assistant to help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents, working alongside catering and care teams to support daily living. You will contribute to a welcoming home where residents can thrive.

Prior cleaning experience and empathy for older people are valued; a Basic Food Awareness Certificate or NVQ Level 2 is desirable, with a willingness to train further.

Qualifications

• Good general education.
• Basic Food Awareness Certificate or NVQ level 2 is desirable (or willingness to work towards it).
• In good general health to meet the requirements of the role.
• Empathy with older people.

Responsibilities

• Carry out high‑quality cleaning across all areas, including bedrooms, communal spaces, bathrooms, offices, corridors, windows, and fixtures.
• Follow agreed cleaning procedures and hygiene standards to prevent cross‑infection and maintain a safe environment.
• Use cleaning equipment safely and correctly, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
• Take responsibility for Health & Safety and COSHH compliance, reporting hazards, accidents, or concerns without delay.
• Work effectively to schedules and time limits, supporting colleagues, attending training/meetings, and reporting any resident concerns to care or nursing staff.
