Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified chef to support our kitchen operations across homes, delivering fresh, seasonal menus and high-quality meals with a focus on resident wellbeing. This bank/part-time role emphasizes work-life balance, professional development, and a warm, welcoming service in a care home setting.

You will assist the Head Chef, lead by example, and maintain nutrition standards while working within budget and HACCP guidelines.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with genuine interest in resident wellbeing
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in leading and inspiring a team
• Good understanding of nutrition
• Experience with fresh seasonal food
• Ability to create a warm, welcoming home environment
• Strong understanding of HACCP

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality, wholesome dishes
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment
• Work within budget
• Complete regular audits
• Manage stock control
