Veritas Education is seeking an experienced Autism Support Worker to join a specialist educational setting in Leeds, with Bradford area coverage.

Role involves supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition to access learning, develop social skills, and build confidence in a school environment. Strong collaboration with teachers and SEN professionals is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
• Experience within a school, care, residential, youth work, or support setting.
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of sensory needs and autism-friendly approaches.
• The ability to positively manage challenging behaviour when required.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism.
• Help pupils engage positively with learning activities.
• Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
• Implement personalised support strategies and individual education plans.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Support pupils during classroom activities, break times, and educational visits.
• Encourage independence and personal development.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest level of support.
