Job summary

Academics Ltd is assisting a Gravesend school in recruiting an Attendance Officer to monitor and improve pupil attendance. The role involves liaising with pupils, parents, staff and the wider school team to ensure accurate records and timely interventions.

The successful candidate will have prior school experience, be proficient with school MIS systems, and demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills. This is a part-time, temp-to-perm position with an immediate start.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a school environment is essential.
• Experience in attendance, school administration or a similar role.
• Experience using SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom or another MIS.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and attendance procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain accurate pupil attendance records.
• Follow up on pupil absences and contact parents/carers.
• Record and update attendance information on the MIS.
• Identify attendance concerns and escalate persistent absence.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and SLT.
• Support attendance interventions and improve rates.
• Produce attendance reports and maintain records.
• Communicate professionally with parents and carers about attendance.
• Support general school administration as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding procedures.
