Job summary

Westonbirt Prep is seeking an experienced learning support assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil with dyslexia and memory/ handwriting needs. The role is part-time, 20.5 hours per week, term-time only, starting ASAP.

The successful candidate will plan resources, deliver targeted interventions, support literacy and numeracy strategies, and help with executive functioning in a warm, supportive prep school environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a dyslexia qualification or have demonstrable experience working with young people with dyslexia.
• A caring and sympathetic person who will enjoy working with children across the prep school.
• A committed, charismatic, reliable role model.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare resources and deliver specialist intervention (1:1) daily where required.
• Support literacy skills including reading decoding, comprehension and spelling.
• Follow and deliver an OT recommended handwriting programme and support alternative means of recording where appropriate.
• Provide support for independent writing and working memory challenges.
• Support numeracy skills where these are impacted by working memory.
• Support executive functioning such as organisation, punctuality and planning.
