Job summary

Purcell in Cambridge is seeking a Part II Architectural Assistant to contribute to a range of projects, including heritage and conservation work, with a friendly, inclusive team.

You will assist in designing options, prepare sketches, models, and drawings, collaborate with architects and clients, and travel weekly to London with travel costs covered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 1.
  • Master’s degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 2.
  • Resident in UK for at least 3 years and ability to obtain security clearance
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Revit.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Twinmotion or other visualisation software.
  • Design capabilities including an analytical approach to understanding a site and its context, development of strong architectural concepts, explored through creative sketches and clear visual diagrams.
  • Good presentation skills (visual, written & spoken) and contribution to high-quality documentation.
  • Understanding of industry technical standards and statutory requirements.
  • Proactive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to manage self, work under pressure, and apply excellent time management skills meet deadlines.
  • Personable, confident and sociable, with a strong sense of team spirit.
  • Enthusiasm to work on conservation-led projects and to deepen your understanding and knowledge of historic buildings.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Revit and use in architectural practice.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketch-up.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of concept and feasibility designs preparing design options, sketches, diagrams, visualisations and presentation material to communicate design ideas.
  • Support architects and projects leads in developing high-quality coordinated architectural proposals.
  • Production of architectural digital models and drawings schedules and technical information under the instruction of architects and senior team members.
  • Reporting to your team leader and wider studio leadership team.
  • Liaison with design professionals and coordination of design information within a multi-disciplinary design team.
  • Communication with clients and project stakeholders and attend site visits and surveys.
  • Being part of a diverse, inclusive and creative team of architectural professionals.
  • Travelling to and working from London on a weekly basis (travel costs covered)

Roles and Responsibilities:

The role will involve applying creative and technical design skills within project teams as well as within the wider studio, working on a range of projects that vary in size and nature.Specific responsibilities will include:
