Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant at a respected SEN School in Burton upon Trent. You will support a Year 1 pupil with SEND, helping them access learning and develop socially, emotionally and academically, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.

The role requires patience, empathy and a commitment to inclusion, with a fixed school day from 8:15am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum. Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications are desirable.
  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant, or SEN Support Worker.
  • Have experience supporting children with SEND in either a specialist or mainstream setting.
  • Be confident supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Be available to work Monday to Friday.

  • Support children with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and emotional regulation needs.
  • Assist with learning activities and classroom engagement.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Implement and support targets outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Adapt learning resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil, helping them access learning and develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:15am to 4:30pm

Friday: 8:15am to 3:00pm

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will:

  • Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum. Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications are desirable.
