Job summary

Hobden Butler is seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant or Part 3 architect for a 12-month contract in our London studio (Finsbury Circus).

You will work across RIBA Stages 1–4, produce feasibility proposals and planning documents, and assist with design and access statements. Hybrid working available; 09:00–17:30, Monday to Friday, with three days in the office and two from home.

Qualifications

• RIBA Part 2 with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience – or recently qualified Part 3.
• Experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp to a practice’s drawing standards.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
• Experience across RIBA Stages 1–4.
• Direct experience of the English planning system and working with local planning authorities.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English for design statements and client/planning officer communications.
• Right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
• Ability to work from Finsbury Circus office three days a week with two from home.

Job description

Hobden Butler is looking for a Part 2 architectural assistant or Part 3 architect to join its team in London.

We are looking for an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant with at least three years’ post-qualification experience – or a recently qualified Part 3 architect – on a 12-month contract in our Finsbury Circus studio. The role may be extended – depending on workload growth.

You will work across RIBA Stages one to four. That means feasibility proposals – concept documents – existing and proposed planning drawings – design and access statements – Stage three planning packages – and Stage four technical drawings and potentially in-house CGIs. There is background research – and you will help gather consultant quotes. You will also share general office administration – as everyone in a studio this size does.

What you need:

• RIBA Part 2 with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience – or recently qualified Part 3 working within a UK-based architectural studio
• AutoCAD and SketchUp – worked to a practice’s drawing standards
• Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
• experience across RIBA Stages one to four
• direct experience of the English planning system – including drawings submitted to a local planning authority
• written and spoken English to the standard the job requires: you will be writing design and access statements and corresponding with planning officers and clients
• the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
• able to work from our Finsbury Circus office three days a week with two from home

Useful – not essential:

• Twinmotion to a standard where you can produce finished visuals without supervision. Is an advantage

The offer:

• from £34,000 for a Part 2 – or from £36,000 for a recently qualified Part 3 – depending on experience
• a 12-month contract – with potential to extend
• 09:00 to 17:30 – Monday to Friday with hybrid working
