Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to carry out maintenance in public parks, schools, and open spaces, following approved specifications.

You will perform grass cutting, hedge trimming, playground inspections, equipment checks, and safe operation of light plant, under health and safety policies.

The role requires unsupervised work, basic setting out, and the ability to drive and tow trailers; training on machinery is provided.

Qualifications

• Training on use of machinery.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance of allocated areas such as grass cutting and hedge trimming.
• Maintain sports areas to approved specification.
• Clean public buildings, parks, and play spaces as required.
• Apply pesticides in line with manufacturers guidelines and current legislation.
• Supervise trainees and other staff as directed.
• Operate handheld and powered tools and light plant, including tractors.
• Comply with Health & Safety policies and safe systems of work.
• Ensure plant and machinery are roadworthy with safety guards fitted.
• Inspect playground equipment and record findings.
• Undertake tasks within service department of Environment Department.
