Job summary

Belmont Recruitment are seeking experienced Parenting Assessors for temporary roles in the Derbyshire area. You will assess parenting capacity, identify strengths and risks, and support positive change using the East Midlands Parenting Assessment Framework.

You will work with children, parents and carers, gather evidence for multi‑agency and legal processes, and produce clear assessments and recommendations. These are full‑time, 37 hours per week, with an initial three‑month duration.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification in social care, childcare, family support or a related field.
• Experienced in assessing the needs of children and families.
• Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and child-focused practice.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive parenting assessments and provide evidence-based analysis and recommendations.
• Work directly with children, parents and carers, building positive relationships while providing support and respectful challenge.
• Assess risk, parenting capacity and the ability of parents to meet their children's emotional and developmental needs.
• Facilitate and observe family time sessions, assessing parent-child interactions, attachment and attunement.
• Work collaboratively with social workers, health professionals, education providers, police and other partner agencies.
• Produce clear assessments, reports and recommendations for use within multi-agency and legal processes.
• Identify strengths, barriers and capacity for change within families.

Job description

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking experienced Parenting Assessors for several temporary positions within the Derbyshire area for an initial duration of three months. These are full-time positions working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children and families by assessing parenting capacity, identifying strengths and risks, and supporting positive change. You will undertake high-quality parenting assessments using the East Midlands Parenting Assessment Framework, providing clear analysis of parenting strengths, areas for development, and the impact on children's safety, wellbeing and development.
