Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at the St Austell Delivery Office (PL25 3PP) on a 9-month fixed term basis. You will work 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with a 14:00–20:00 shift, including Sundays. Full training provided, a uniform and a Royal Mail van are supplied.

Overtime is paid. Key duties include sorting letters and parcels, delivering by van and on foot, and building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisation and resilience.

Job type: Fixed Term 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 14:00/20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at St Austell Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
