Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for the St Austell Delivery Office (PL25 3PP) on a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in your local area.

The role involves outdoor work, a rotating schedule including weekends, and a 30-hour work week. Training is provided; a full manual UK driving licence is required, along with fitness for long walks, weather exposure, and lifting 10 kg+

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to current name/address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused.

Job type: Fixed Term 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -14:00/20:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
