Job summary

Royal Mail in Plymouth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed term 9-month contract. You will work 30 hours per week on a rotating shift, including some weekends, with shifts from 14:00 to 20:00.

You'll sort letters, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, build relationships with customers, and work outdoors in all weathers. Full training is provided and you must hold a UK manual driving licence.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags

Location: Plymouth Delivery Office, PL9 7XX. Job type: Fixed Term 9 months. Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 14:00/20:00*. You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand. You'll be required to work Sundays at Plymouth Delivery Office.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
