Role

Forbes Solicitors LLP is seeking an experienced Motor Claims Paralegal to join our Insurance (Motor Claims) team in Manchester. This full-time position involves working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of defendant insurance motor claims, including small claims and fast track RTAs.

Responsibilities

1. Provide support to Advisors through chargeable legal work, including evidence review, witness statements, court preparations, and legal bundle collation.
2. Ensure timely progress of matters, prioritize tasks, monitor deadlines, and keep clients informed.
3. Draft and prepare legal documents, requiring analysis and understanding of gathered information.
4. Provide legal advice under supervision to resolve queries and advance cases.
5. Assess client queries, manage file notes, and guide case progression.
6. Attend external meetings, hearings, court appearances, and networking events.
7. Maintain and update case management systems and documents.
8. Conduct legal research and produce articles and reports for publication.
9. Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders, managing expectations and escalating issues when necessary.

The Person

We will consider applicants based on their knowledge, experience, and skills, focusing on:

Essential

• CILEX qualification/Law Degree or equivalent
• Previous paralegal experience
• Experience in motor claims, small claims, or fast track RTAs
• Alignment with the firm’s values
• Attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Teamwork skills
• Commercial awareness
• Proficiency in IT systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and case management platforms
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Interest in long-term development within the department

Desirable

• Holding LPC/SQE qualifications
• Experience defending insurance claims
