Our Team

There is an exciting opportunity available in our Public Law and Human Rights team working alongside solicitors, mainly within Education and Court of Protection.

The team works nationally, assisting clients to appeal to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal on EHCP appeals and disability discrimination claims. They handle judicial review cases, school exclusions, complaints, and safeguarding issues, often working with schools and colleges. Responsibilities include drafting letters before action, applications to the Tribunal, reviewing client documents, creating chronologies, applying for public funding, liaising with experts, and taking witness statements.

In Court of Protection work, the focus is on working with adults and young people transitioning into adulthood from 16. The team handles Health and Welfare applications, including deprivation of liberty cases. Tasks include reviewing records, visiting clients, attending court, drafting documents, liaising with parties, and applying for legal aid.

Our department is ranked highly in Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500, known for high-profile cases and a national reputation in test cases, with offices across the country.

About You

This role suits a motivated individual interested in Public Law & Human Rights. The candidate should:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Have paralegal or public law experience, preferably in the above areas
  • Possess excellent client care skills and sensitivity
  • Have strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Be IT literate with attention to detail
  • Be capable of working independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of legal aid systems is desirable
