Description
The CSG costs product handles approximately 700 instructions monthly, covering a wide range of work types from various clusters within DAC Beachcroft LLP. The department's strategic goal is to provide on-demand litigation costs expertise across all business areas, from low-value injury claims to complex international commercial litigation.
The product team includes two Partners, six Legal Directors, and two Associates, totaling 53 lawyers with diverse experience, including Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives, Costs Lawyers, and Paralegals.
It comprises specialized teams focusing on different costs areas, such as paying party teams (handling claims up to £100,000), complex claims teams, and receiving party recovery teams. An opening exists for at least one paralegal within the paying party section, which manages costs arising from various civil litigation cases, including personal injury, disease, clinical negligence, property damage, cyber, and international accidents. There is also a Scottish jurisdiction unit.
We welcome applications from candidates with minimal or no costs experience. This is a full-time role based in our Birmingham office.
What you will do?
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing a caseload of costs challenges with individual claims up to £100,000.
- Ensuring quality control and compliance on your caseload, including accurate and timely management reporting.
- Demonstrating high financial management standards for your files.
- Achieving and maintaining targets related to chargeable time, financial performance, realization, settlement, and claim spend, with a minimum of 1440 chargeable hours annually.
- Continuously developing technical knowledge through training and reading.
Who you are
- Educated to degree level in law or equivalent.
- Proficient in IT, especially Excel and Word.
- Capable of applying a commercial perspective to legal issues.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
