Description
DAC Beachcroft is looking to recruit a Paralegal to join our Clinical Risk team in Leeds.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and passionate individual to join an award-winning, progressive, and highly specialised team.
Our Clinical Risk cluster is the largest nationally, handling a challenging but fulfilling caseload of defendant clinical negligence work. This involves acting for a variety of clients, which may include NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, MDU, independent providers, and medical malpractice insurers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the team with interesting and varied work, including pre-litigation and litigated defendant clinical negligence claims on behalf of NHS Resolution and NHS Trusts. Tasks include instructing experts and counsel, liaising with witnesses, arranging conferences, drafting documents, conducting research, and managing disclosure issues. Opportunities to attend conferences and hearings with counsel will also be available.
- Adhering closely to client protocols and processes, utilizing our bespoke case management system.
- Contributing to non-fee earning activities such as knowledge sharing, training, client seminars, and business development.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Previous clinical negligence experience is highly desirable but not essential.
- We also consider candidates with limited experience who possess strong academic qualifications, are practical and enthusiastic, and have a strong team ethic and a desire to learn.
- Ability to understand and navigate complex issues.
- Demonstrable ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an overly academic approach to legal issues, with a strong client-focused attitude.
- Confidence and professionalism in dealing with clients on day-to-day issues, building strong relationships.
