Job summary

The role involves handling fast-track and multi-track claims, drafting defences, disclosure lists, witness statements and client reports, while ensuring court directions and timetables are met.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of litigated fast-track and multi-track claims (disease/illness and/or historic abuse).
• Draft key legal documents including defences, disclosure lists, witness statements, costs budgets, instructions to counsel, client reports.
• Assess liability and quantum; analyse documentary and expert evidence (medical records).
• Ensure compliance with court directions and procedural timetables; attend hearings when required.
• Maintain accurate case management and deliver a high standard of client service.

Job description

Pro currently has an exciting opportunity for a paralegal. The post holder will undertake a variety of tasks to manage and progress a caseload of litigated claims, with a focus on disease, illness and/or historic abuse matters. The role is open to candidates at varying levels of experience and qualification, including graduates.

Pro currently has UK office locations in London, Glasgow, Gloucester, Horsham and Liverpool and operates a flexible working policy with regard to location and hybrid working. The post holder may be required to travel between these locations when necessary.

Who We’re Looking For:

Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience in:

• Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
• Asbestos-related disease
• Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
• Other industrial disease / illness claims
• Historic abuse claims
• Personal injury litigation, with an interest in developing expertise in industrial disease and historic abuse litigation.

Defendant experience is preferred but not essential. We are also accepting applications from recent graduates who are looking for a role as a paralegal or candidates who have legal experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate case management and management information
• Deliver a high standard of client service at all times

Key Performance Indicators

• Compliance with client SLAs
• Achieve financial and chargeable hour targets
• Accurate completion of MI

Skills and Experience

• Experience handling litigated claims (disease, illness and/or abuse preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of CPR and litigation process
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
