Description

The ideal candidate for this role has experience in defender insurance work or complex and legacy work such as clinical negligence or disease. Litigated file handling experience is a plus.

Keoghs Scotland is seeking to recruit a Paralegal to join our expanding abuse team in Glasgow. You will handle a varied caseload of pre-litigated and litigated abuse cases (Defender) for both insurer and uninsured clients. It is preferable that applicants have experience appearing in the Sheriff court and acting as instructing agent in the Court of Session. Experience in sensitive and complex claims is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Forensic review and analysis of relevant documents
  2. Analysis of liability
  3. Analysis of quantum and causation
  4. Assisting in drafting advice
  5. Client liaison and site visits
  6. Reviewing files to assess litigation strategy and direction
  7. Drafting court documents and correspondence to clients and witnesses
  8. Preparing witness statements and instructions to experts and counsel
  9. Assisting Partners and other team members as required
  10. Supporting business development initiatives, including drafting articles, blog posts, e-shots, presentations, and attending relevant events

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Previous legal experience
  • Litigation experience is preferred
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong forensic skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with sensitive and complex claims is desirable
  • Experience with time recording is advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
