Job summary

Rossendale Hospice is seeking a Palliative Support Worker to join our community team in Rossendale. You will provide practical and basic nursing care and emotional support to patients at home, under the direction of Registered Nurses.

We value healthcare experience, DBS checks, and a full UK driving licence. The role offers permanent employment, 18 hours per week with enhanced pay for unsocial hours and a monthly salary pro rata.

Qualifications

• Healthcare experience essential, ideally with life-limiting conditions.
• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Visit patients in the Rossendale community and provide practical/basic nursing care.
• Offer emotional support under direction of Registered Nurses.
• Maintain high standards of care and professionalism.

Job description

Hours: 18 hours per week (3 days)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Basic annual pro rata £19,827.60 (30 hours) £11,896.56 (18 hours) plus generous enhancements.

About the Role

Caring for someone in the final weeks and months of life is both challenging and rewarding. Our Hospice at Home service promotes comfort, dignity, and independence, enabling people to remain in their own homes.

As a Palliative Support Worker, you will visit patients within the Rossendale community, sometimes working alone, to provide practical and basic nursing care and emotional support under the direction of Registered Nurses.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous healthcare experience (essential), ideally with life-limiting conditions.
• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent*.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Reliable, proactive, and passionate about delivering high standards of care.
• Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance.
• Mileage is paid at 55p per mile. Employment is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
• Staff are salaried and paid monthly, with no deduction in pay if no patient visit.

Additional hours are available covering absence on a regular basis
Pay: £12.71
Current enhancement pay:-After 9pm & Saturdays: £16.28 per hour-Sundays & Bank Holidays: £20.35 per hour
