Job summary

St George's Hospital is seeking a clinical or counselling psychologist for a fixed-term 12-month maternity-cover post in the specialist adult inpatient palliative care service. The role focuses on psychological work with patients with life-limiting illnesses and their relatives, with clinical supervision and teaching of the team.

Mentoring within the neuropsychology and clinical health psychology department is provided, and flexible hours will be considered.

Qualifications

• Doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent for those trained before 1996).
• HCPC registration as a clinical or counselling psychologist.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychology input for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their relatives within the palliative care service
• Carry out predominantly direct clinical work with patients and relatives
• Liaise with the multidisciplinary palliative care team and other healthcare professionals, including medical, nursing, AHP and liaison psychiatry colleagues
• Provide clinical supervision and teaching to other members of the multidisciplinary team
• Work as a member of the neuropsychology and clinical health psychology department, receiving support and mentoring
