Job summary

C & P Recruitment is seeking a Domestic Painter and Decorator to work across Moray in Scotland (Elgin, Lossiemouth, Forres and surrounding patches). You will refresh empty properties for letting and perform internal painting in occupied homes, delivering neat finishes while maintaining good customer care.

You must be time-served or qualified, hold a CSCS card (preferred), have your own tools and PPE, a full UK driving licence, and be eligible to work in the UK with two trade references.

Qualifications

• Qualified or time-served Painter & Decorator; SVQ Level 3 advantageous.
• Experience in domestic maintenance, social housing, or local government.
• Valid CSCS card preferred.
• Own tools and PPE required.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
• Right to work in the UK and two references.

Responsibilities

• Void Property Upgrades: Refresh and repaint empty council or housing association properties quickly to bring them up to letting standards for new tenants.
• Occupied Home Maintenance: Execute internal painting, glossing, and minor plaster repairs in occupied domestic residences while maintaining excellent customer care.
• Surface Preparation: Stripping wallpaper, filling cracks/holes, scraping paint, and sanding.
• Property Protection: Protect tenants' furniture, fixtures, and flooring with dust sheets and masking tape.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to local authority health and safety guidelines and maintain a tidy workspace.

Domestic Painter and Decorator (Occupied & Void Properties)

Location: Moray area, Scotland (Elgin, Lossiemouth, Forres, and surrounding patches)

Employment Type: Temporary ongoing contract

Hours: 37 hours per week (Standard shift)

Overtime Rate: Time and a half (1.5x) for any hours worked over 37

Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate (Weekly pay via CIS, Umbrella, or PAYE options)

Key Responsibilities

• Void Property Upgrades: Refresh and repaint empty council or housing association properties quickly to bring them up to letting standards for new tenants.
• Occupied Home Maintenance: Execute internal painting, glossing, and minor plaster repairs in occupied domestic residences while maintaining excellent customer care and diplomacy.
• Surface Preparation: Perform thorough prep work, including stripping old wallpaper, filling cracks/holes, scraping old paint, and sanding.
• Property Protection: Protect tenants' furniture, fixtures, and flooring using dust sheets, drop cloths, and masking tape.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to local authority health and safety guidelines, keeping a tidy and safe workspace at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Qualified or time-served Painter & Decorator (SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is highly advantageous).
• Proven experience working within domestic maintenance, social housing, or local government frameworks.
• Valid CSCS card (preferred).
• Own professional tools, brushes, and standard PPE.
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential to travel across various domestic sites in Moray).
• Right to work in the UK and two checkable trade references covering similar work.
